ExoSwitch: A liquid biopsy tool for early stage cancer diagnostics
Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide. Tumour develops and becomes less responsive to therapy by the time of diagnosis. We can detect cancer sooner by screening biofluids, like blood, for presence of cancer biomarkers. Our prototype chip, ExoSwitch, makes miRNA detection accessible and simple. By using toehold switches, it allows rapid detection of multiple cancer miRNAs. Combining low cost and easy distribution, ExoSwitch can bring accessible tumour screening to patients worldwide.
